I know my last comment was pretty long, but i just read that Sarah Palin served as director an independent political group called "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service 527 Group". The Washington Post has this great factual article on this story: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/01/palin_was_a_director_of_embatt.html

The verdict on Republican Senator Ted Stevens was suppose to help reinforce Palin’s original sales pitch to America, regarding ending corruption in the Alaskan Oil Industry, but it seems like she’s struggling to represent her own message. Americans want the ‘walk’ not the ‘talk,’ which ironically happens to be McCain’s continuous stump message. As a political junkie, trying to be as much partisan as I can, I think the McCain Camp should use their biggest weapon so far (the lone dissenter from Alaska), Governor Sarah Palin to publicly condemn the Republican Senator Ted Stevens, from his 40 year Senate position. This would clearly help solidify Sarah Palin’s self-proclaimed label of being a genuine ‘Maverick.’ Does it make sense? I mean, strategically, this places both McCain & Palin in a position to call out corrupt politicians…the ball is on their court, Palin-barracuda takes the balls but hesitates to shoot, she glances at coach for instructions…and misses her chance! (The crowd woes)

But they don’t want to call on a powerful Republican Senator who has been in the Senate since The Beatles released ‘Hey Jude’ (1968). They don’t want to because they know that if Gov. Palin calls down on Stevens the republicans lose another challenged seat in the senate. Right now, Steven faces opponent, Democratic Mayor Mark Begich coveting his seat in office.
